Dispensaries in Williamstown, MA come down to one store: Silver Therapeutics at 238 Main Street, the shop that opened on April 24, 2019 as the first adult-use dispensary in North County. Four more licensed stores sit a short drive away in North Adams, Adams and Lanesborough. For adults 21+ visiting the Clark, Williams College or the northern Berkshires this winter, here is where each shop is, what to bring, and the rules that matter in a town with two state lines next door.

Silver Therapeutics, Williamstown

  • Address: 238 Main Street (Route 2), Williamstown, MA
  • License: listed on the Cannabis Control Commission's Where to Buy map as an adult-use retailer as of 2026
  • Entry: adults 21+ with valid government-issued photo ID

Silver Therapeutics opened on a Wednesday in April 2019 in what was then the Colonial Plaza shopping center on Main Street. Principal Josh Silver told iBerkshires at the time that he picked a quiet midweek opening over the 4/20 weekend on purpose, so the store would not look "in over our heads." Opening-day customers passed two ID checks, one in the lobby and another inside the sales room. Hours at launch were 10 AM to 8 PM daily. Hours may have changed since, so check the store's site before going.

The CCC map also links City Farm, on American Legion Highway in Boston, to the Silver Therapeutics site, which is why the name turns up in eastern Massachusetts searches.

The North County shops nearby

All of these appear on the CCC's Where to Buy map as of 2026:

  • Clear Sky Cannabis, 221 State Road, North Adams. Its site lists daily hours of 10 AM to 8 PM, in-store shopping and online ordering for express pickup, with no delivery. It takes cash and debit, and asks for a state driver's license, state ID or passport with a future expiration date.
  • New England Regional Dispensary, 401 Curran Highway, North Adams, on Route 8.
  • Indica, 127 Columbia Street, Adams. Its site lists two different sets of hours, so call ahead.
  • Liberty Market, 35 North Main Street, Lanesborough, on Route 7 south toward Pittsfield.

The dispensary directory carries current listings for each, and Pittsfield, half an hour south, has seven more.

What to bring and what it costs

  • ID. Adults 21+ only, with valid government-issued photo ID. A Vermont or New York driver's license works.
  • Limits. As of 2026, under H.5350, a retailer can sell an adult up to 2 ounces of flower, or its equivalent of 10 grams of concentrate or 1,000 mg of edibles, per transaction.
  • Taxes. Adult-use sales carry the 10.75% state excise tax and the 6.25% sales tax, plus up to 3% local tax where the town has adopted it.
  • Edibles. Start low, go slow. A low-milligram first serving and a long wait before any second one.

The rule, plainly

The Cannabis Control Commission, at masscannabiscontrol.com, publishes the state rules:

  • Massachusetts state law prohibits cannabis consumption in public spaces. The CCC spells it out as no smoking, vaping or eating cannabis in public places or on federal land.
  • An open container of cannabis in a car's passenger area is illegal. Keep purchases closed, in the trunk or a locked glove compartment.
  • Driving under the influence of cannabis is illegal.
  • Crossing a state line with cannabis is illegal, even into a state where adult-use is legal.

What it means in Williamstown

Williamstown sits in the far northwest corner of Massachusetts, and both Vermont and New York are minutes away. A purchase made on Main Street cannot ride home to Bennington or across the line into New York, even though both states have legal adult-use markets, because the CCC is plain that driving across state lines with cannabis is illegal. Visitors from either state buy for use in Massachusetts only.

The Williams College campus, the town's trails and the grounds of the Clark are public or institutional space, and college property carries its own rules. Inns and hotels set their own policies, and most ban smoking, so read the terms before booking. The realistic setting for adults 21+ is a private residence where the owner or lease allows it.

Williamstown in winter

Winter is a strong season for the town's museums. The Clark Art Institute has offered free admission from January through March every year since 2023, with 2026 the fourth year of its "Free for Three" program, and the galleries keep 10 AM to 5 PM hours Tuesday through Sunday from September through June. If the pattern holds, early 2027 is free again. Confirm on the Clark's site once the winter program is announced.

A few miles east, MASS MoCA in North Adams has its own winter calendar, and the events hub lists what is on across North County. The Williamstown page covers the town itself.
